A new superannuation kit, launched today by Victorian Minister for Industrial Relations, Ms Monica Gould, will raise awareness of superannuation among disadvantaged workers and young people, Assistant Commissioner Superannuation, David Diment said today. The Job Watch Superannuation Information Kit is targeted at community and youth groups. It has been jointly produced by the Tax Office and Job Watch, a community legal organisation which promotes the rights of disadvantaged workers and young employees. "The partnership is just one innovative way the Tax Office is reaching the community. It is a real example of the Tax Office working with others to meet the needs of groups who might otherwise miss out on this information," said Mr Diment. "The joint project is an opportunity to promote the benefits of superannuation and the rights of employees under the legislation. The kit is aimed at students at school and colleges of advanced education, migrants and youth who have just entered the workforce. It is in a plain English, readily accessible format. "The kit highlights a range of superannuation issues relevant to the target community groups, including the Superannuation Guarantee, the Lost Members Register, Super contributions and entitlements. "The kit is the start of an on-going partnership between Job Watch and the Tax Office and the result of three month's work," Mr Diment said. The kit is being distributed to community and youth groups in Victoria with a national rollout planned for later in the year. Interested parties can download the kit from the Job Watch website at www.job-watch.org.au and Tax Office's website www.ato.gov.au/super CANBERRA
