Last June, ARISA entered into a joint venture agreement with the Department of Family and Community Services to co produce a publication know as "Understanding Retirement Income Streams – Information to help you plan your retirement years". The publication has proved to be a great success, with members of the public applauding the initiative, and being encouraged by the impartial information the publication provides. ARISA recently surveyed a cross section of the general public who had received a copy directly from ARISA. The survey asked respondents a number of questions including a rating on the usefulness of the book, how easy it was to understand, whether it covered too many topics, if they would recommend the book to others, and if it was a useful tool in assisting their retirement planning. The results were extremely positive, and many recipients have requested further information, and access to any similar publications. Many of our members have also found the publication useful, either with their distribution networks or as a training aid. Many members branded their books with their own logo to further personalise them. Armed with this information, we have asked the Minister for Family and Community Services to commit further Government funds towards a second edition of the publication. In line with this, we are also investigating the possibility of running a series of seminars designed to educate the general public on the benefits of retirement income streams, possibly in conjunction with CentreLink.
